ArcelorMittal South Africa, the largest steel manufacturer in Africa, stated that it has issued force majeure notices to its customers due to plant equipment failures.

The blast furnace in its Newcastle plant was impacted by thermal damage and needed to be shut down. In this case, ArcelorMittal can't continue to perform production and delivery work.

According to preliminary estimates, the necessary repairs should be carried out within a week. However, it was obvious that at least three weeks of the shutdown will be required.
