According to Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil, IABr), Brazil’s apparent steel consumption should reach 19.9 million tons this year, sliding by 4.7% compared to the previous year; however, IABr’s data showed that the market outlook has improved.

Executives of Gerdau S.A. (Gerdau), one of the largest steelmakers in Brazil, predicted that Brazil's steel consumption will grow by 6-8% in 2021, which was mainly driven by the demand from the domestic infrastructure projects.
