It was reported that the Canadian government will invest in improving energy efficiency, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions in the aluminum industry by 2050. Seamus O'Regan, the Minister of Natural Resources, said that US$40,000 will be invested in Alcoa Canada's energy information system so as to reduce the energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions at its Deschambault aluminum smelter.
