China’s iron ore price index slides on Dec 28

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ended December 26, the production of US’ crude steel totaled around 1.6 million short tons, declining by 1.2% from the same period a week ago and also sliding by 11.8% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 72.3%, decreasing by 0.9% week on week and also going down by 6.2% year on year.

As of the week ended December 26, the production of US’ crude steel amounted to around 78.74 million short tons this year, a year-on-year decrease of 17.7%. The capacity utilization rate was 67.7%, a year-on-year reduction of 12.1%.
