Hulamin, the largest aluminum rolling facility in Sub-Saharan Africa, has completed the Phase 2 upgrade of its S5 aluminum cold mill in South Africa, in collaboration with A Richards Consulting (ARC). The successful, on-schedule project completion is expected to strengthen Hulamin's ability to meet growing global demand.

The primary goal of the upgrade was to increase the maximum strip width the mill can handle. This change allows the S5 mill to process wider, high-quality can stock, opening doors to new markets and improving overall plant utilization.

Main modifications included a new entry bridle and coloring roll designed and supplied by ARC for precise tension control, along with longer work rolls and backup rolls with modified chocks and new bearing arrangements.
