Indian primary aluminum producers, including Hindalco and Vedanta, are striving to curb aluminum imports and meanwhile having cooperation with the government on primary aluminum, recycled aluminum, and downstream products.

The general manager of Hindalco stated that the company is developing aluminum alloy materials for defense with the government. Another official said that the Indian aluminum industry could potentially replace 100% primary aluminum imports and 50% of downstream products with the current capacity.
