Rio Tinto has signed a new power agreement for Iceland's ISAL aluminum smelter with an amended power contract. This contract will be a win-win situation as it is offering mutually beneficial for both ISAL and Landsvirkjun, the power supplier.

This agreement with Landsvirkjun will be able to provide a more competitive power price with improved efficiencies and energy flexibility.

Rio Tinto will keep working hard to strengthen its supply of low carbon aluminum to its customers in Europe and North America and provides an influential contribution to Iceland’s economy.

Furthermore, Rio Tinto withdrew its complaint filed to the Icelandic Competition Authority last July about the energy supply for ISAL.
