South Africa has sharply raised anti-dumping (AD) duties on structural steel imports from China and Thailand following a dumping finding. The new rates, 74.98% for Chinese products and 20.32% for Thailand’s products, will stay in place for five years. The products under the measure are classified under tariff headings 7216.31, 7216.32, 7216.33, and 7216.50.
The move came after an investigation by the country's International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC), which found that imports from both countries were being sold below market prices, hurting local producers. In 2024, South Africa had already imposed provisional duties of 52.81% and 9.12% on the products from China and Thailand, respectively.
