South African aluminum scrap exports to drop by 9.26% in 2020

According to statistics, South Africa’s aluminum scrap exports totaled nearly 500,000 tons in 2019, declining by 3.44% compared to the previous year. The volume was expected to slide by 9.26% to 45,200 tons in 2020.

South Africa mainly exports its aluminum scrap to Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, China, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, and so forth.

It was understood that the South African government has implemented a 2-month ban on all scrap metal exports since July 3.
