According to reports, the United Nations (UN) is calling on the Venezuelan government to severely crack down on illegal bauxite mining activities in the country, saying that such illegal activities are caused by criminal gangs that abuse and murder workers.

According to a UN report, Venezuelan security forces are not only incapable of stopping such illegal activities, but sometimes they will participate in such acts.

The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet said that the Venezuelan government would seriously deal with this illegal activity.
