US’ crude steel production climbs

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ended January 9, the production of US’ crude steel totaled around 1.71 million short tons, rising by 3.6% from the same period a week ago while sliding by 10.3% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 75.4%, increasing by 0.8% week on week while going down by 7% year on year.

As of the week ended January 9, the production of US’ crude steel amounted to around 2.18 million short tons this year, a year-on-year decrease of 10.4%. The capacity utilization rate was 75.2%, a year-on-year reduction of 7.2%.
