US’ crude steel production drops

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ended December 12, the production of US’ crude steel totaled around 1.57 million short tons, dropping by 0.8% from the same period a week ago and also sliding by 13.7% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 70.9%, falling by 0.5% week on week and also down by 7.6% year on year.

As of the week ended December 12, the production of US’ crude steel amounted to around 75.33 million short tons this year, a year-on-year decrease of 18.2%. The capacity utilization rate was 67.3%, a year-on-year reduction of 12.5%.
