US’ crude steel production falls

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ended August 29, the production of US’ crude steel totaled around 1.38 million short tons, falling by 2.1% from the same period a week ago and also dropping by nearly 25% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 61.7%, sliding by 1.3% week on week and also going down by 17.4% year on year.

As of the week ended August 29, the production of US’ crude steel amounted to around 51.84 million short tons this year, a year-on-year decrease of 20.1%.
