US’ crude steel production rises

According to statistics from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), in the week ended August 22, the production of US’ crude steel totaled around 1.41 million short tons, rising by 2.5% from the same period a week ago while dropping by 23.3% compared to the same period a year earlier. The capacity utilization rate was 63%, hiking by 1.5% week on week but going down by 16.1% year on year.

As of the week ended August 22, the production of US’ crude steel amounted to around 50.25 million short tons this year, a year-on-year decrease of 20.3%. The capacity utilization rate was 65.8%, a year-on-year reduction of 14.9%.
