WBMS: Global primary aluminum market has oversupply of 709,000 tons in Jan-Mar 2020

According to the monthly report released by the World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS), the global primary aluminum market faced an oversupply of 709,000 tons from January to March of this year, compared to an oversupply of 761,000 tons in 2019.

In the first three months of this year, the global primary aluminum demand was 15.7 million tons, increasing by 532,000 tons from the same period in 2019. During the same period, the global primary aluminum production had a year-on-year increase of 5.8%.
