In November, the leading US aluminum producer Alcoa inaugurated a brand new bauxite residue processing plant in Brazil.

For a long time, bauxite residues have been extremely harmful to agriculture and animal husbandry, destroying the normal lifestyle of residents. This will be the first time that this technology has been installed in Brazil. The project facility makes good use of its water and soil protection methods which are perfectly practiced in Australia.

Alcoa's move highlights its efforts from an international perspective, and the technology coming online marks the beginning of a new era of innovation and sustainable development for Alcoa in Brazil. In addition to process innovation, the installation of filtration equipment will also reduce carbon emissions and reduce energy consumption in the process.

Alcoa aims to reduce bauxite residue land stocks by 15% over the next decade
