Alcoa Corp., a leading aluminum producer in the US, said it is lobbying the White House to block US imports of aluminum from Russia after Russia escalated its military attack in Ukraine, showing its support for US sanctions on Russia’s aluminum industry.

Alcoa thought that the US and other countries should impose sanctions on Russian aluminum. The company stopped its purchases and sales with Russian businesses this March.

Besides, Alcoa said it has requested the London Metal Exchange (LME) to delist Russian aluminum as the country’s global metal contract will be disproportionately affected by Western countries’ sanctions and will not correctly reflect supply and demand dynamics.
