Asia’s hot-rolled coil (HRC) prices are rising slowly, with Chinese Q235 and Q195 HRC offers increasing for February and March shipments to Vietnam and Taiwan. In terms of SAE1006 HRC, compared to Chinese offers, those from Indonesia’s Dexin Steel were preferred due to no anti-dumping risks.

The appreciation of the Chinese yuan supported the HRC price rise, but most steel mills didn’t make offers due to exchange rate uncertainties and post-holiday market conditions.

In Taiwan, import buying has paused due to the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday. Taiwan's anti-dumping case against the Chinese HRC may be decided by late May or early June, and provisional duties will start in March or April.
