Australian iron ore exports increase in Jan-May, China shows strongest demand

In May, the iron ore exports from Australia went up by 8% month on month to 74.6 million tons. In the first five months, Australia’s iron ore exports reached 347 million tons, slightly increasing by 2% year on year.

Among them, China was the country with the biggest consumption of Australia’s iron ore, increasing by 1% year on year to 291 million tons. Besides, South Korea and Japan imported iron ore from Australia, decreasing by 4.9% year on year to 19.3 million tons and growing by 1.6% year on year to 20 million tons, respectively.
