According to the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), Australia is currently facing an issue of power shortages. It was expected on June 14 that five Australian states will confront power interruptions, including New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, and Tasmania.

Australia, the sixth-largest aluminum producer in the world, has four aluminum operating smelters in Australia currently, with a total production capacity of 1.72 million tons per year. These smelters are located in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, and Tasmania, all of which are in regions with power outage risks.
