Brazilian steel producers seek government helping to fight US tariffs

It was reported that steelmakers in Brazil requested President Jair Bolsonaro to take some measures to cut the US steel and aluminum tariffs as local steel producers and aluminum makers were faced with big challenges such as US tariffs and the nationwide widespread of coronavirus.

Marco Polo de Mello Lopes, the head of steel association IABr, said that export was a major alternative for steel and aluminum industries. It was necessary for the Brazilian government to had a further negotiation with the US side for making the US market more flexible.

This Monday, Brazilian president met with industry delegates and had a phone conversation with Donald Trump for tariffs issue.
