Cátilo Cândido, executive president of Abralatas (the Brazilian Association of Aluminum Can Manufacturers), said that Brazil’s aluminum can manufacturers’ sales are likely to grow by 5% by the end of this year from an increase of 1.65% in 2023, which was driven by the extended hot season and helpful macroeconomic conditions.

The current annual production capacity of aluminum beverage cans in Brazil is 32.3 billion cans, and per capita consumption is 165 12-can packages per year, said Cândido, emphasizing that Brazil’s aluminum can industry is closely related to the domestic economic trends, and the industry's growth figures are closely tied to gross domestic product (GDP).

Domestic primary aluminum prices have stabilized in recent months, so Brazil’s aluminum can industry can enter 2024 with normal inventories. Besides, the industry has also experienced a more stable market after the wake of the COVID-19 epidemic.
