Brazil’s crude steel production slightly increases in Dec 2023

According to statistics from Brazil Steel Institute (Instituto Aço Brasil, IABr), the country’s crude steel production totaled 2.5 million tons in December last year, slightly rising by 0.9% compared to the same month a year ago.

During the period, Brazil’s rolled steel production rose by 16% year on year to 1.65 million tons. Output of long products was up by 17% year on year to 559,000 tons, and that of flat products increased by 15.4% year on year to 1.1 million tons.

In the whole year of 2023, Brazil’s crude steel production amounted to 31.9 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 6.5%. Rolled steel products output slid by 7% year on year to 21.8 million tons.
