Brazilian pellets manufacturer Samarco was a joint venture between Vale and BHP Billiton, each holding a 50% stake.

Samarco said this week that IBAMA, the Brazilian Federal Environmental Agency, awarded three iron ore slurry pipeline licenses with a validity period of 10 years. These pipelines would connect Minas Gerais state and Espirito Santo state, and be responsible for the transportation of iron ore.

The company ceased operations after the accident of the dam burst in November 2015 and has not resumed its activities so far.
