The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said it has started the anti-dumping probe into steel imports from Taiwan, Germany, South Korea, Malaysia and Turkey.

The products involved were certain hot-rolled carbon steel heavy plates and high-strength low-alloy steel heavy plates.

The investigation will be started on June 11th, the preliminary determination and potential provisional duties will be imposed on August 25th, and the final determination will be on November 23rd.

The anti-dumping duties will be imposed for an initial period of 5 years if the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) confirmed the imports harmed the domestic steelmakers.

Algoma Steel Inc. filed the complaints last month and mentioned it requested the investigation since the imports hurt the Canadian producers and workers.
