Century Aluminum Company announced on November 15 that its wholly-owned subsidiary Norðurál and a renewable power producer Qair have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to supply green electricity to the Grundartangi aluminum smelter in Iceland. The installed capacity of the power source, two of Qair's windfarms under development, totals 200 MW.

Besides, the two companies have agreed to cooperatively develop a solution to capture carbon emissions from the Grundartangi smelter. If the project is successfully developed, the captured carbon dioxide will be used in Qair's planned new hydrogen plant near this smelter to produce eFuel.
