China aims for recycled aluminum output to reach 11.5 million tons by 2025

According to a notice of carbon peaking implementation plan for China’s industrial sector issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Ministry of Ecology and Environment on August 1, the export of primary aluminum will be managed in accordance with laws and regulations, and the government will encourage the increase in imports of high-quality recycled metal raw materials.

By 2025, the ratio of aluminum alloying will increase to more than 90%, and the output of recycled copper and recycled aluminum will reach 4 million tons and 11.5 million tons, respectively. The supply of recycled metals should account for more than 24%. By 2030, the proportion of renewable energy used in primary aluminum will increase to more than 30%.
