China’s crude steel output falls, pig iron output rises in Apr

According to the statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China, in April this year, China’s crude steel production dropped by 1.5% to 92.6 million tons, pig iron production grew by 1% to 77.8 million tons, and output of steel products was up by 5% to 119.95 million tons, all on a year-on-year basis.

During the period, the average daily production of crude steel in China was 3.09 million tons in April, that of pig iron was 2.59 million tons, and that of steel products was 3.998 million tons.

In the first four months of this year, China produced 354.4 million tons of crude steel, up by 4.1% year on year. Pig iron output was 297.6 million tons, rising by 5.8% year on year. Steel production amounted to 446.4 million tons, hiking by 5.2% year on year.
