China's primary aluminum imports decline, exports surge in May

China's primary aluminum imports in May reached around 223,000 tons, falling by 10.9% from the previous month while rising by 41.4% from the same month a year ago. Primary aluminum exports totaled approximately 32,000 tons, a month-on-month jump of 136.9% and a year-on-year surge of 376.4%.

In May, China’s net primary aluminum imports were 190,700 tons, down by 19.5% from April but up by 26.3% year on year.

In the first five months of this year, cumulative imports totaled about 1.06 million tons, down by 3.7%; exports were 67,000 tons, soaring by 215.6%; net imports reached 990,500 tons, representing an 8.0% year-on-year decrease. All were on a year-on-year basis.
