China's screw industry responds to CBAM earlier than Taiwan

The EU decided to conduct a trial operation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in October this year and officially levy carbon adjustment tariffs in 2026.

Chinese screw industries have implemented measures of energy saving and carbon reduction earlier, with more rapid advances than Taiwanese industries.

Taiwan started a discussion to establish a carbon rights exchange this year; however, China launched the national carbon online market as early as July 2021. The trading volume of carbon emissions had reached 232 million tons as of the end of February this year.

Chinese screw industries have already completed the CBAM basic frames and systems, so they will be soon in line with the relevant rules. If the carbon emissions of Taiwanese screws are higher than Chinese screws, they will have to pay higher costs for carbon offsets.
