China’s stainless steel exports & imports increase in Jan-May

In May, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to about 174,000 tons, decreasing by 10.14% from the previous month but increasing by 23.05% from the same period a year ago. Among them, the imports from Indonesia were about 148,000 tons, decreasing by 10.84% month on month but growing by 28.81% year on year. Meanwhile, the stainless steel exports from China were about 458,000 tons, a month-on-month increase of 16.56% and a year-on-year increase of 29.99%.

In the first five months of this year, China’s stainless steel imports totaled about 977,000 tons, hiking by 34.75% year on year. During the same period, the exports were about 1.91 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.77%.
