At the 6th Council Meeting of the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) held on July 29-30 in Hebei, Chairman Zhao Minge emphasized the urgent need for industry self-discipline amid falling domestic demand and shrinking global trade. He called for stricter production control and a shift toward green, low-carbon transformation.

Zhao also advocated for limiting the export of primary steel products to improve export quality. Key product categories like rebar, auto sheets, ship plates, and seamless pipes should adopt stricter self-regulation, he said, while proposing policy support for low-emission, high-efficiency producers.
