The Colombian government held conversations with leaders of the national steel sector to evaluate the possibility of building a new flat steel plant in the country.

At the meeting, the National Mining Agency (ANM) aimed to analyze the feasibility of this new plant and learn about the private sector's perspectives on the future of the Colombian steel industry.

ANM highlighted that national production of flat steel could reduce dependence on imports, which in 2023 reached 1.3 million tons, and contribute to the environmental sustainability of the steel sector.
