DECO Australia leads the way in sustainable architecture by prioritising ethical sourcing, low-carbon aluminium and traceable supply chains as an ASI member. Their dedication to environmental responsibility and community values sets a benchmark in innovative, sustainable building materials.

The energy-intensive process of producing virgin aluminium, especially during smelting, highlights the critical need for lower-carbon solutions. DECO has become the first building company to adopt Capral Aluminium’s LocAl® Green lower-carbon aluminium across its entire Capral supply, setting a strong example for the industry.

“Growing environmental pressures, increased regulatory scrutiny and the rising demand from consumers and stakeholders for responsible sourcing are all key factors,” stated Richard Hamber, General Manager at DECO Australia.

A key milestone in DECO’s sustainability journey has been achieving product membership with the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI). This global non-profit brings together producers, users, and stakeholders across the entire aluminium value chain.

For DECO, aligning with an initiative that upholds strict standards for both chain of custody and product performance ensures that all LocAL® Green aluminium products they source are fully traceable and backed by verified claims. However, their ASI Associate Membership goes well beyond material traceability—it represents a broader commitment to high environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards. This includes addressing the full lifecycle impact of their products and maintaining a strong focus on ethical and responsible material sourcing.
