DOD invests $23 million to increase capacity in annual aluminum casting production

The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) announced a $23 million investment in Constellium Muscle Shoals LLC in Muscle Shoals, Alabama to rebuild its direct chill aluminum casting center.

Constellium, a Paris-based producer of aluminum rolled and extruded products, will use the funds to increase its annual aluminum casting capacity to 300 million pounds. Therefore, increasing investment in recycled aluminum while reducing the use of raw metal.

Constellium planned to bring additional foundry capacity to the United States and ensure the ability to supply U.S. factories while providing reinforcement capabilities to support U.S. security commitments.
