Egypt’s Metalco considering setting up aluminum smelter with $2.7 billion

The Egyptian Company for Metal Constructions (Metalco) is planning to build an aluminum smelter with around US$2.7 billion in order to meet domestic and overseas demand. The project was scheduled to have an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons.

Metalco is currently having talks with a potential partner. Two possible locations for this project under evaluation are the North Port Said area and the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone.
