Global stainless steel production declines in Jan-Jun

According to the World Stainless Association, formerly known as the International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF), in the first half of the year, the world's stainless steel output was 29 million tons, decreasing by 3.5% compared to the year-ago period.

Among them, the output in Europe was 3.83 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 5.2%; the output in the US was 1.09 million tons, a year-on-year drop of 14.7%; the output in China was 16.4 million tons, down by 5.3% year on year.

However, stainless steel production in Asia, excluding China and South Korea, reached 3.84 million tons, up 3.1% year on year. The production from other countries was up by 3.3% year on year to 4.08 million tons.
