Kailash Pandey, President and Cluster Head at Hindalco Industries Limited, said the company plans to set up an aluminum foil manufacturing plant for lithium-ion batteries at Lapanga in Sambalpur District of Odisha State.

With an estimated investment of Rs 803 crore, the plant will help Hindalco take a leading position in the electric vehicle (EV) market.

In addition, Pandey also said that the company has a plan to build a white-fused alumina project on the premises of Aditya Aluminium, Lapanga, which will reduce India's refractory industry's dependence on imports and create export opportunities in Southeast Asia, the Far East, and the Middle East.
