Indonesia secures 80.4% share of China's stainless steel imports in Jan-Aug

China's stainless steel imports skyrocketed to 117,000 tons in August, showing massive monthly (+60.55%) and yearly (+17.69%) growth. Among them, imports from Indonesia reached 95,300 tons, up by 106% month on month and by 33% year on year. 

For the year through August, Indonesia remained China's top supplier, accounting for 80.4% of all imports, totaling nearly 820,000 tons, a year-on-year drop of 27%. 

Despite the August spike, China's total imports are down in the January-August period (-23.31%), while exports saw only a modest rise (+3.09%), totaling about 3.37 million tons.
