Iran's state-run metals and mining company IMIDRO announced on November 10 that the cumulative aluminium ingot output in four principal smelters in the country of South Aluminum Corporation, IRALCO, Almahdi Aluminium Company, and Iran Alumina Company attained 352,423 tonnes in the first seven months plus till October 21. Whereas, in the same period in 2023, the production was slightly high, 367,091 tonnes (a difference of 14668 tonnes).

IMIDRO has disclosed that the nation's largest aluminium smelter, the South Aluminum Corporation (SALCO), has manufactured over 144,000 tonnes, which is close to 41 per cent of the country's total turnout from April to Octoberr, 2024. SALCO entered operation in 2018 as the Iranian government strategised to facilitate aluminium production and create employment for the youth in the southern province of Fars and areas near the Persian Gulf.

According to IMIDRO, the gulf country's second largest smelter, IRALCO, which is in the central city of Arak, has had a net output of nearly 101,000 tonnes of aluminium ingots in the seven months to late October and at the Al-Mahdi Aluminum, located in the southern province of Hormozgan, output achieved 87,227 tonnes.

It added that Iran Alumina, located in northeast Iran, which has a comparatively lesser production, churned out near to 20,000 tonnes of aluminium in the aforementioned period.

IMIDRO's detailed count reveals that Iran Alumina, known as the most extensive supplier of raw ingredients for aluminium production in Iran, has delivered 138,859 tonnes of alumina powder, approximately 232,851 tonnes of aluminium hydroxide, and 459,409 tonnes of bauxite (aluminium ore) over the seven months to late October, calculated respectively by 2 per cent, 2 per cent and 40 per cent, compared to the same period in 2023.
