Italy’s crude steel production decreases in Jan

According to statistics from the Italian steelmakers' association Federacciai, Italy’s crude steel production totaled around 1.55 million tons in January this year, dropping by 14.7% compared to the same month a year ago.

During the period, the output of Italy’s flat steel products was down by 17.7% year on year to around 750,000 tons, and that of long products decreased by nearly 20% year on year to 766,000 tons.

In 2022, Italy produced a total of 21.62 million tons of crude steel, a year-on-year decrease of 11.5%. The production of flat steel products amounted to 9.55 million tons, down by 13.8% year on year; the output of long products was 12.03 million tons, dropping by 12% year on year.
