Japan’s aluminum total demand falls in Q1-Q3 2023

According to statistics from the Japan Aluminium Association, Japan's domestic and export aluminum demand totaled around 936,000 tons and 2.8 million tons in the third quarter and the first nine months of 2023, falling by 1.5% and 3.4% year on year, respectively.

In the third quarter of 2023, the domestic aluminum demand was roughly 903,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.3%. Exports totaled 33,000 tons, down by 32.7% year on year.

In the January-September period of last year, the domestic aluminum demand was roughly 2.69 million tons, falling by 1.8% year on year. The export volume amounted to 112,200 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 30%.
