Japan's crude steel production declines in Sep

According to the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF), Japan's crude steel production totaled around 6.6 million tons in September, decreasing by 3.6% compared to the previous month and by 6% from the year-ago level.

Meanwhile, the output of pig iron dropped by 7.2% month on month and by 5.6% year on year to nearly 5 million tons.

In the first three quarters of this year, Japan produced a total of around 63.3 million tons of crude steel, a year-on-year decline of 3%. Pig iron output slid by 3.7% year on year to 45.8 million tons.
