Nippon Steel Stainless Steel Corp. (NSSC), the largest stainless steel producer in Japan, announced a hike in the price of nickel-based cold-rolled stainless steel thin plates and thick/medium plates for general distribution by 5,000 yen per ton for December, and the price of chromium-based cold-rolled thin sheets was kept unchanged.

It was the first price increase for nickel-based products since June 2024, and the second consecutive month of flat prices for chromium-based products.

NSSC said the price increase in nickel-based products reflected higher raw material costs due to the depreciation of the yen against the US dollar.
