Jindal Stainless, a leading stainless steel manufacturer in India, foresaw an opportunity from the US' 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports, as it creates a level playing field.

Although the tariff was first introduced in 2018, several US trading partners received exemptions, which were removed this time.

Managing Director Abhyuday Jindal said that US new tariffs could benefit the company as it has a better chance compared to other countries. However, the tariffs may also lead to increased dumping of stainless steel in India, where imports already meet a third of demand, impacting local producers' profitability.
