It is reported that Indian steelmaker JSW Steel is trying to keep its production level at the main steel plant at Ballari in Karnataka even though 50% of its workers are still working from home amid coronavirus pandemic.

The plant’s utilization in May this year was 83% of the installed capacity, bounced back from 38% during the lockdown in April; the utilization in June is not disclosed yet.

The plant in Karnataka has an annual capacity of 12 million tons of steel and provides direct and indirect livelihood to more than 200,000 people.

Currently, 11,000 employees of the 20,000 workforces of JSW were still requested to work from home.
