Kaiser Aluminum, a US-based aluminum producer, declared force majeure at its Warrick Rolling Mill (Kaiser Warrick) in Indiana due to the limited supply of magnesium used in the production of its aluminum beverage and food packaging products, and the production of these products was also reduced.

On account of the magnesium shortage, Kaiser Warrick expected to cut production and deliveries by 30% to 40% in July, and around 50% will be reduced during the remainder of the third quarter.

The operation of the rolling mill will continue at lower production levels until US Magnesium, the largest magnesium supplier of Kaiser Warrick, resumes deliveries or provide additional replacement magnesium to Kaiser Warrick.
