Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Minerals & Metals (M&M) business has bagged multiple large contracts in India, strengthening its foothold across the aluminium and steel industries.

The company has received an order from Hindalco Industries to set up a 180 KTPA aluminium smelter along with a Gas Treatment Centre (GTC) for its upcoming greenfield project in Odisha. The scope of work for the smelter includes civil and structural works, supply, and erection, while the GTC job covers engineering, procurement, construction, and plant installation.

L&T has been a long-term partner to Hindalco for more than three decades, contributing significantly to its expansion programs across alumina, aluminium, and copper plants.

In addition, the M&M business has secured an order from Tata Steel for setting up a 1 MTPA Coke Oven Battery 6 A/B at its Jamshedpur facility. The project involves engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, and plant installation.

The Product Business Unit of M&M has also won multiple orders from various clients across India for mining and material handling equipment, including stacker reclaimers, wagon tipplers, crushers, and surface miners.

T. Kumaresan, Senior Vice President & Head – Minerals & Metals, L&T, said, “These order wins across the aluminium and steel sectors are a testament to L&T’s engineering excellence, execution capability and enduring customer relationships. These further strengthen our role in shaping the nation’s industrial infrastructure, while deepening the relationship with the steel sector through world-class execution and technological excellence.”

The M&M vertical of L&T provides end-to-end EPC solutions across sectors such as mining, minerals processing, industrial products, and material handling. Its Product Business offers cost-effective, integrated solutions for industries including mining, cement, steel, fertilizers, and ports.

Earlier in February, L&T secured an order from Hindalco for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of an 850 KTPA greenfield alumina refinery in Odisha, consolidating its leadership in India’s aluminium value chain.
