Latin American crude steel production drops in Apr

According to the Latin American Steel Association (Alacero), Latin America produced approximately 3.6 million tons of crude steel in April, dropping by 34% year on year due to the economic crisis caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.

In the first four months of 2020, Latin America produced roughly 18.3 million tons, decreasing by 14% from the same period a year ago.

Besides, the production of finished steel products in April was about 2.9 million tons, falling by 32% year on year.
