Hydro Energi has entered into a ten-year long-term power purchase agreement with Å Energi, the largest renewable energy group in Norway, to supply 438 GWh per year to Hydro's Norwegian aluminum plants from 2025, for a total supply of 4.38 TWh of electricity.

The agreement supports Hydro’s low-carbon aluminum production and helps it achieve its 2050 net-zero emissions target. Norwegian aluminum production relies on renewable power and has a carbon footprint that is around 75% lower than the global average.

The long-term contract will add to Hydro's Nordic power portfolio, including 9.4 TWh of captive power production per year and approximately 10 TWh of long-term contract portfolio.

With some existing contracts set to expire at the end of 2030, Hydro is actively exploring new procurement options to meet its renewable power needs.
